We are seeking an experienced WOF Mechanic / Automotive Technician to join a trusted New Zealand-owned automotive service business with more than 45 years of industry experience and over 40 automotive service stores across New Zealand. The successful candidate will help customers and their families travel safely by carrying out professional WOF inspections, vehicle servicing, diagnostics, and mechanical repairs to a high standard.

This role suits a qualified WOF Inspector and experienced automotive technician who enjoys a varied mechanical role and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship. You'll be comfortable conducting WOF inspections as well as getting hands-on with servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and general workshop duties across a wide range of vehicles, including EVs, hybrids, European vehicles, 4x4s, utes, and vans.

- Conduct Warrant of Fitness inspections in accordance with NZTA requirements and inspection standards
- Inspect vehicles for safety, roadworthiness, and compliance
- Identify and accurately document vehicle defects and determine WOF outcomes
- Carry out general vehicle servicing and preventative maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment
- Perform engine management and diagnostic work, including identifying fault codes and determining required repairs
- Carry out brake repairs, servicing, and component replacements
- Inspect and repair suspension and shock absorber systems
- Carry out exhaust system and muffler repairs
- Inspect and replace batteries and tyres where required
- Perform general mechanical repairs and replacement of worn or damaged components
- Work across a variety of vehicles, including cars, 4x4s, utes, and vans, with exposure to EVs, hybrids, and European vehicles
- Complete vehicle inspections and repairs efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship
- Communicate identified faults, repairs, and recommendations clearly to customers and the wider workshop team
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Follow all workshop health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
- Qualified and experienced automotive mechanic/technician
- Current NZ WOF Inspector authority/qualification
- Previous experience conducting WOF inspections
- Strong understanding of vehicle mechanical systems and safety requirements
- Experience with vehicle diagnostics and fault-finding
- Experience with brakes, suspension, exhausts, tyres, and general servicing
- Ability to work confidently across a range of vehicle makes and models
- EV, hybrid, European vehicle, or 4x4 experience advantageous
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, professional, and safety-conscious approach
