Staffing agency is a national recruitment company. We’re seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join one of our clients a busy mining project in Waihi. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical work, variety, and being part of a hardworking site team.
You won’t be stuck doing the same task every day. The role covers mechanical fitting, pipework, plumbing, pump installation, equipment assembly and general mechanical work across the site.

Location: Waihi, NZ
Duration: Approximately 3–6 weeks
Hours: 7:00am–5:00pm
Saturday: Half-day required

Candidates based in Tauranga or Hamilton are encouraged to apply, with company-covered travel to the Waihi site available for suitable candidates.
What You’ll Be Doing:
You’ll be involved in a range of mechanical and site work, including:
- Threading and installing galvanised pipe
- Plumbing and general pipework
- Building and connecting pipe systems
- Installing pumps and mechanical equipment
- Mechanical fitting and assembly
- Installing and securing mechanical components
- Tightening and loosening bolts and fittings
- Plastic welding
- General mechanical and hands-on site work
- Following all site health and safety procedures
Training can be provided on site for the right person.
What We’re Looking For:
We want an experienced fitter who is practical, reliable and willing to get stuck in.
Ideally, you’ll have experience with:
- Mechanical fitting
- Galvanised pipe threading
- Plumbing or pipe installation
- Pumps and mechanical equipment
- Mechanical assembly and installation
- Industrial, construction or mining environments
You’ll be someone who is:
- Reliable and hardworking
- Confident using tools and mechanical equipment
- Physically capable of site work
- Adaptable and willing to help across different tasks
- Safety conscious
- Comfortable working as part of a team
- Willing to learn new skills
- Have proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter
- Have strong practical mechanical skills
- Be comfortable working with pipework and mechanical equipment
- Be reliable and physically capable
- Have strong health and safety awareness
- Have a positive, flexible attitude
- Have been living and working in New Zealand for at least two years
- Have the legal right to work in New Zealand
